My name is Julie Fei-Fan Balzer and I like to make things. My primary interests are collage, acrylic painting, surface design, printmaking, paper engineering, quilting, and mixed media art. I am lucky enough to make my living as an artist. I am an author, blogger, vlogger, podcaster, product designer, teacher, product spokesperson, and the host of Make It Artsy on PBS. You can find me on my blog at www.balzerdesigns.typepad.com and on instagram as @balzerdesigns.
How and when did you first discover Rhodia products?
I bought my first Rhodia notebook years ago in my favourite art supply store. The bright orange color grabbed my attention and the quality kept me coming back to buy more.
Which are your favorite Rhodia products?
I am a huge fan of the A5 dot grid webnotebook. I love the elastic closure, attached bookmark, and the expanding pocket in the back. The paper is the perfect weight for me – nice and thin but not so thin that my favourite pens bleed through the paper. And the dot grid is perfect for creating flexible pages – I can take nice neat notes (like a lined notebook) and still draw pictures (like an unlined notebook). For me, it’s the perfect mix.
Do you use your Rhodia products for work? Personal use? Both?
Both. My Rhodia webbie goes everywhere with me. I use it to take notes, keep track of appointments, plan my day, fill my “bored” moments, and keep me organized and productive!
Pencil, pen, or other? Favorites?
Pen, always pen. I love the Sakura Pigma Micron PN. Lots of colors, great tip size and the plastic nib takes a beating.
