RD: Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
BT: My pen name is Beth Treadway, my website is www.BethTreadway.com, and I have just started my own imprint – Wild Authors LLC. It’s so new I haven’t gotten the website up yet. I’m currently working with a cover model who is mid-shoot, so there will be a delightfully dangerous man on my covers when I release my books.
I’m an absolute pen, ink, paper junkie and Rhodia is a long-standing favorite. In fact, I’m using a No. 8 pad to track all the information required for my next move.
RD: How and when did you first discover Rhodia products?
BT: I discovered Rhodia products when Fountain Pen Network was very small and very new. The reviews all seemed to end with, “You’ll discover your (fill in the blank) performs effortlessly if you use Rhodia.” I had to special order, but one try was all it took. I was hooked.
RD: Which are your favorite Rhodia products?
RD: Do you use them in any way that is specific to your work?
BT: For a writer, there’s nothing better than products that let you track beat sheets, plot points, conferences and all the paper minutiae that would otherwise drift into drifts in the corner of my writing castle.
RD: Does using Rhodia products make your job easier in any way? (Do quality tools make the job easier?)
BT: When I’m not typing, fountain pens and Rhodia are the greatest tools out there. No writer’s block can stand against gorgeous shades of ink drifting across perfect paper.
RD: Pencil, pen or other?
BT: Broad-nibbed or stub-nibbed fountain pens and 6B pencils because of their effortless drift across the page. I want to lose myself in my writing rather than concentrating on my tools.
RD: Where do you regularly purchase Rhodia products?
BT: My favorite pushers, er, vendors are the Goulet Pen Company and JetPens, although I find Amazon runs periodic specials on the No. 38 pads, which are otherwise special order in blocks of 5 or 10. I think I found Brian Goulet on the second day his business was open and any time I need a Rhodia product that isn’t in stock, I have only to ask what his minimum order is and I have it as fast as he can get it.
RD: Is there any way we could improve on your favorite product?
BT: The only improvement I would like from Rhodia, is an option for white paper (in the Webnotebooks) in addition to the current ivory. In low lighting, it makes my eyes strain and muddies my gorgeous fountain pen inks. Other than that, these are truly perfect products.
